These terms apply to hazelathome.com and to the referral service we run from it. Please read them before you use the site. They are written in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, email [email protected].

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using this site or submitting our form, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. What Hazel is, and what it is not

Hazel is an advertising and referral service. We run ads, collect enquiries from families looking for in-home care for an aging parent, and introduce each family to one local licensed home care provider.

We are not a home care agency. We do not provide care, we do not employ, train or supervise caregivers, and we do not direct how a provider works. We do not check or guarantee any provider's availability, pricing, licensing, insurance, conduct or quality of care.

Any care arrangement is solely between you and the provider you choose. Hours, rates, duties, cancellation and everything else about the care are agreed between you and that provider, not with us.

3. How we are paid

We are paid a referral fee by the provider we introduce you to. This costs you nothing and does not change what you pay the provider. The fee does not affect the rate you are quoted.

4. No professional advice

Nothing on this site, in our quiz, or in a call with us is medical, legal, financial or tax advice. General information about care and costs is guidance only. For medical questions, speak to a doctor or nurse. For legal, tax or financial questions, speak to a qualified professional.

5. No guarantee of outcomes

We do not guarantee that a provider will be available, that a provider will accept your enquiry, that you will be happy with the provider, or that any particular outcome will be achieved. We do not promise savings.

Any cost estimates given on a call are indicative only. Actual rates vary by location, by the number of hours, by the level of care needed, and by the provider. You are responsible for agreeing the rate with the provider before care starts.

6. Your responsibilities

• Give accurate, current information, including the correct ZIP code for the person who needs care.
• Only submit a phone number and email address that you own, or that you are authorised to give consent for. If you are enquiring for someone else, make sure you have their permission to share their details and to give consent to be contacted.
• Be 18 or over to use the site.
• Tell us or the provider promptly if you no longer want to be contacted.

7. Acceptable use

Please do not:

• use the site for anything unlawful, misleading or fraudulent;
• submit someone else's details without their permission, or submit false enquiries;
• send automated, bulk or repeated submissions;
• copy, scrape or resell content from the site, or use it to advertise your own services;
• interfere with the site, or try to gain unauthorised access to it or to our systems.

We may block access, refuse an enquiry, or report misuse.

8. Intellectual property

The content on this site, including text, images, logos and page design, belongs to Hazel or is used with permission. You may read it, print it and share a link to it for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy it into your own site or marketing without our written permission.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The site and our referral service are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Hazel is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings or lost opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the site, our referral service, or care arranged with any provider.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Hazel, and its officers, employees and contractors, harmless from any claim, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the site, your breach of these terms, or information you submit, including any consent you give for a phone number or email address you were not authorised to provide.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in [STATE].

13. Changes to these terms
