Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Hazel ("Hazel", "we", "us") runs this website at hazelathome.com. This policy explains what we collect when you use the site or send us an enquiry, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. We have written it in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, email us at [email protected].
1. Who we are
Hazel is an advertising and referral service based in the United States. We are not a home care agency. We do not provide care, employ caregivers, or supervise care. We run ads on Facebook and Instagram, collect enquiries from families looking for in-home care for an aging parent, and introduce each family to one local licensed home care provider.
You can contact us at [email protected].
2. What we collect
Details you type into our form:
- Your first name, phone number and email address.
- The ZIP code of the person who needs care.
- Your answers to our quiz: who the care is for, what kind of help is needed, when you would like help to start, and how you plan to cover the cost.
- Whether you ticked the consent box, plus the date and time you submitted the form.
Details collected automatically when you use the site:
- Your IP address, device and browser type, and operating system.
- The pages you viewed, how long you stayed, and the site or ad that brought you here.
- Cookie and advertising identifiers, including identifiers used by the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API.
We do not ask for medical records, diagnoses, Social Security numbers, bank details or insurance policy numbers, and we do not want them. Please do not send them to us.
3. How we collect it
- Directly from you, when you answer the quiz questions and submit the form.
- Automatically, through cookies, pixels and similar technologies when you visit the site or see one of our ads.
4. Why we collect it
- To match your enquiry to one local home care provider in your parent's area.
- To contact you about your enquiry, by phone, text message or email.
- To keep a record of the consent you gave us.
- To measure and improve our advertising, and to reach other people who may be interested in the same service.
- To keep the site secure and to prevent spam and fraud.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
5. Who we share it with
One local home care provider per enquiry. We send the details you submitted to a single licensed provider in your parent's area so they can call you about care. That provider is an independent business, and its own privacy policy applies to how it uses your details. If you would rather not hear from them, tell them, or email us and we will pass your request on.
Our service providers. Companies that help us run the business, such as website hosting, our CRM and database, email delivery, telephony and call tracking, and analytics. They only act on our instructions and only use your details for that purpose.
Advertising platforms. Including Meta, for ad measurement and audience matching. Section 6 explains this in detail.
Authorities and protection. Where the law requires it, or where we need to protect the rights, property or safety of Hazel, our users or others.
We do not sell your information to lead aggregators, data brokers or anyone else. We do not rent it. We do not add you to a marketing call list, and we do not share your details with other care providers so they can cold call you.
6. Advertising and tracking technologies
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, and we use the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API to do it. These tools tell Meta when someone who saw or clicked one of our ads submitted a form, so we can see which ads work and show our ads to similar audiences.
To do that, we and our advertising partners share hashed contact information, such as your email address or phone number, together with cookie and device identifiers. Hashing turns the information into a one-way code: Meta cannot read your email address from it, but it can match the code against its own records for ad measurement and audience matching. We do not share your quiz answers, and we do not share your information in readable form for advertising.
You can read how Meta handles data in Meta's Privacy Policy. You can see and limit what Meta collects about your activity on other sites in your off-Facebook activity controls. You can also turn off personalised advertising in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings.
7. Cookies and how to control them
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use three types:
- Strictly necessary cookies, to keep the site working and to record your form submission.
- Analytics cookies, to count visits and see how people use the site.
- Advertising cookies, including the Meta Pixel, to measure our ads and build audiences.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, and you can browse in private mode. If you block all cookies, the site still works, but we may not be able to recognise your enquiry. You can also limit personalised advertising using the Meta controls linked above.
8. Consent to contact
When you submit our form with the consent box ticked, you give Hazel express written consent to contact you, and to share your details with one local home care provider so that the provider can contact you, about home care services. This covers contact by phone call, text message (SMS) and email, and it includes calls and texts made using automated technology or prerecorded messages.
You are not required to give this consent in order to use the site, and consent is not a condition of any purchase. Ticking the box is your choice. Without it, we cannot pass your enquiry to a provider. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your phone plan.
9. How to opt out
- Texts: reply STOP to any text message you receive from us or from the provider. Reply HELP if you need help.
- Emails: click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send.
- Calls: tell the person who calls you that you would like no further calls.
- Any time: email [email protected] and ask us to stop contacting you or to delete your enquiry. We act on these requests promptly, usually within a few business days.
10. How long we keep it, and how we protect it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to handle your enquiry, to keep a record of the consent you gave, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. After that we delete them or make them anonymous.
We protect the data we hold with encryption in transit, access controls, and staff who only see it when they need it to do their job. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we take it seriously and we act quickly if something goes wrong.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you, and ask for a copy;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to stop contacting you;
- opt out of the sharing of your information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Email [email protected] to make a request. We will check your identity first, usually by confirming a few details from your enquiry, so we do not hand your information to the wrong person. We will not treat you differently for making a request. You can also ask an authorised agent to make a request for you with your written permission.
12. California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the rights listed above: to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. The categories of personal information we collect and share are described in sections 2, 5 and 6 of this policy.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do share identifiers with advertising platforms such as Meta for ad measurement and audience matching, which some privacy laws treat as "sharing" for behavioural advertising. To opt out, email [email protected] and ask us to opt you out of advertising sharing.
Other US states with privacy laws, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and Texas, give residents similar rights. You can use the same email address to exercise them.
13. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information to lead aggregators, data brokers or call lists. Where we share identifiers with advertising platforms for ad measurement or audience matching, you can tell us to stop.
Email [email protected] with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share", and include the name, phone number and email address you used on our form. We will opt you out and stop sharing your information for advertising. If you have already been passed to a provider, we will also tell them to stop contacting you for marketing.
14. Children
Our service is for adults looking for care for a parent or another adult. The site is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
15. Health information
Any information you give us about the person who needs care, such as the kind of help they need, is provided voluntarily by you. We are not a HIPAA covered entity, we are not a healthcare provider, and we do not collect medical records, test results or diagnoses. Please do not send us medical information. If you do include it in an enquiry, we treat it as part of that enquiry and handle it under this policy.
16. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If the change is important, we will say so clearly on the site. Please check back from time to time. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
